Trump tried to grab wheel to divert limousine to Capitol riots - aide
Former President Donald Trump has denied assaulting secret service agent in motorcade.
A former White House aide has given damning, first-hand testimony about Donald Trump's actions during the storming of the US Capitol building last year.
Cassidy Hutchinson was speaking to the Congressional committee investigating the attack. She said Mr Trump was so desperate to join the crowd he tried to grab the steering wheel of his limousine from a secret service agent. Mr Trump has dismissed the accusations, describing Ms Hutchinson as a phoney.
Richard Painter, a Law Professor and former chief White House ethics lawyer, told Newsday that “we don’t know for sure what happened in a limousine and if…former President Trump were to be charged for that incident then there would need to be testimony from the secret service agent who was assaulted…we had an election and he lost and this is not how we handle elections in a democracy”.
