Myanmar executions: Families want to see bodies
State media in Myanmar reports that four democracy activists have been executed, in what is believed to be the first use of capital punishment in decades.
Former lawmaker Phyo Zeya Thaw, writer and activist Ko Jimmy, Hla Myo Aung and Aung Thura Zaw were accused of committing "terror acts".
Thinzar Shunlei Yi is a democracy activist in neighbouring Thailand. She told Newsday that family members of those reportedly executed have been trying to find out more information: “The family members…with their lawyers are now waiting…to talk with prison authorities, at least to see their bodies.” She adds that so far, this has been “denied”.
