Monkeypox global emergency: Too late?
The global monkeypox outbreak has been declared a public health emergency of international concern by the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO director general, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said there have been 16,000 cases of monkeypox worldwide this year but deaths have been restricted to five.
The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s Africa Health correspondent, Dorcas Wangira, told Newsday: “In Africa, monkeypox has been here for 50 years…some argue that this is a decision that came too late.â€
