Million locked down following four Covid cases in Wuhan

In China, there are growing fears that Covid has returned to Wuhan, the city where the coronavirus was first detected.

Four cases have led the authorities to put around one million people into lockdown. Residents of Jiangxia have been ordered to stay inside their homes or compounds for three days, after the discovery of the four asymptomatic cases.

Last month, Shanghai, China's giant financial capital with nearly 25 million residents, finally emerged from a strict two-month lockdown, though residents are adapting to frequent mass testing.

Professor Ben Cowling head of epidemiology and bio-statistics at Hong Kong University's School of Public Health joined Newsday saying, "The idea in Wuhan is to act as quickly as possible now so that they can get back to zero daily cases as soon as possible, and hopefully there won't be a need for a prolonged lockdown".
