How much sleep do children really need?
According to a new study, children who get less than nine hours of sleep are more susceptible to cognitive impairment and mental health problems.
The study's lead researcher, Ze Wang, is Professor of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in the United States. He told Newsday the study even suggests long term harm for children who do not get enough sleep.
“These effects actually persisted after two years…and may persist for even longer years and may eventually lead to permanent changes.”
