Eastern Uganda flooding kills at least 23

At least 23 people have been killed and many more displaced by floods in Eastern Uganda. Local people, armed forces and other responders have been working since Sunday searching for the missing and recovering the bodies washed away by the water.

Morris Nyombi is a climate activist and environmentalist in Uganda who has seen the impact of the floods. He says that the loss of homes and food is a concern. "They need to know where people will get their next meal," he says.

He also points out that many people are still stuck in temporary accommodation from previous floods and argues the government needs to do more to help people relocate to safer ground.
