How are the Taiwanese reacting to China's military drills?
Lin Ching-Yi, a member of Taiwan's parliament says, 'China is really not a good neighbour'.
China's military drills around the island of Taiwan have intensified. They include live fire and missile launches that targeted waters near the Taiwanese coast. Self-ruled Taiwan says the move, which stops ships and planes from using the space, violates its sovereignty and amounts to a blockade.
Lin Ching-Yi, a member of Taiwan's parliament and a representative of the governing Democratic Progressive Party describes her country's response to China's military exercises. She says China is "an evil neighbour," and that, "the tensions, missiles and exercise threat is our daily lives in the past decade" and not just the result of Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.
While ships and flights have been disrupted, most Taiwanese are not complaining "keeping to a normal life". Lin Ching-Yi says Taiwan is keen to co-operate not just with China but also neighbours Japan, the Philippines and the US to keep the Indo-Pacific region secure.
