The threat from the Islamic State group is growing by the day across Africa and the continent could be 鈥渢he future of the caliphate". That's the conclusion of Martin Ewi, an African security expert from the Institute for Security Studies in Pretoria, South Africa. He was previously in charge of the African Union Commission鈥檚 counter-terrorism programme and has just briefed the UN Security Council on the increasing threat.

He told Newsday: 鈥淵ou don鈥檛 fight terrorism by focusing on one small location and then abandoning the whole vast country to terrorists鈥�when you want to fight terrorism you need to fence the whole place.鈥�
