Latvian PM: Ukraine in a sense is fighting our war
Latvia is supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia because it could have been in the same position, the country鈥檚 Prime Minister, Krisjanis Karins, has told the 蜜芽传媒.
鈥淲e here in Latvia very well understand that the Ukrainians are in a sense fighting our war. They are fighting against Russian imperialism,鈥� he told the Hardtalk programme鈥檚 Stephen Sackur.
鈥淩ight now it happens to be in Ukraine - it could just as well be anywhere else around Russia鈥檚 periphery.鈥�
Latvia has been one of Ukraine鈥檚 staunchest allies and has donated more than one third of its military budget to Ukraine to help fight Russia.
