US ban on assault weapons 鈥榥eeds to happen鈥�
US President Joe Biden has delivered a speech outlining his concerns about gun violence in the country, specifically the repeated use of assault weapons in mass shootings.
Jessica Ghawi was one of 12 people who died in a shooting at a cinema in Colorado in 2012. She was 24.
Her mother Sandy Philips and stepfather Lonnie Philips have subsequently campaigned against gun violence ever since. Mr Philips told Newsday assault rifles are 鈥渢he weapon of choice for mass shooters and it鈥檚 a weapon most dangerous to our police officers鈥� none of them want to go up against an assault weapon.鈥�
