US city with 'no water to drink’
Some 180,000 residents in Jackson, Mississippi have "indefinitely" lost access to reliable running water.
Both the city and state are distributing bottled drinking water to residents as well as non-potable water for toilets via tanker truck, with Mississippi's National Guard assisting relief efforts.
Chris Bell is a Republican member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, representing District 65 in Jackson. He told Newsday: “It’s very difficult especially for our elderly and our disabled residents…only thing I can tell them is just to be patient. We’re gonna get this thing working as soon as possible.â€
