'Make America Great Again' supporters are a threat to democracy says President Biden
Biden said 'Maga' supporters are extremists during primetime speech.
President Biden says supporters of Donald Trump's 'Make America Great Again' supporters are extremists who are a threat to democracy.
"Maga forces are determined to take this country backwards," he said during a primetime speech in Pennsylvania, adding that Trump supporters thought of the mob who stormed the US Capitol last year as patriots rather than insurrectionists.
Biden delivered his speech on Thursday night from Independence Hall in Philadelphia, which comes two months before mid-term elections, which will decide the power balance in Washington.

She joined Newsday to give her thoughts on Biden's speech saying, "President Biden has not referenced President Trump by name very frequently if ever, and he's sort of taken great pains to do that. He's also not given a forceful fourth right speech about democracy since the beginning of 2021, since the Jan 6th insurrection, when he gave a speech on voting rights. But since then, he hasn't really talked about this issue in such strong terms. So I think from that perspective, for him to set up a primetime speech about the state of our democracy, and the threats that Trump and his Maga Republicans present, is pretty significant".
