10 people killed in series of stabbings in Canada

At least 10 people have been killed and another 15 injured after a stabbing rampage in Canada's central Saskatchewan province.

The victims were found in 13 different locations, in the remote indigenous community James Smith Cree Nation and Weldon.

Two suspects are on the run, and are considered to be armed and dangerous.

Checkpoints have been set up across the central Saskatchewan province, with residents urged to shelter indoors.

Carla Beck is the leader of the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party.

She told Newsday, "We do know that this was a terrible tragedy. It started very early this morning. And right now, the suspects are still at large. We extend our sympathies, and our thoughts to those impacted, of course the victims and their families, but also the first responders, the larger first nation, the municipalities, and those who are treating the injured. This is a large causality event in our province - my heart goes out to everyone whose been impacted in our province".
