Trump: Report claims to show documents held at Mar-a-Lago
Reports from the US show that a document describing a foreign government's military defences, including its nuclear capabilities, was found in the FBI's search of former President Trump's home in Florida.
The Washington Post, citing unnamed sources, says such information would typically be available only to government officials at the highest levels, such as cabinet members and the president. The FBI recovered more than 11,000 items during its search in August at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.
Ryan Goodman is the former special counsel at the Department of Defence and law professor at New York University. He told Newsday, "I think it's very significant on a number of different levels. It definitely strengthens the case that this is something that could be potentially charged under the espionage act, people are behind bars for having handled much less sensitive classified information."
