Tigray says dialogue is only way to lasting peace
The man named by Tigray as its chief negotiator in any future talks with the federal Ethiopian government has told Newsday that peace can only be achieved through dialogue.
Getachew Reda blamed the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, and his Eritrean ally, President Isaias Afwerki, for the collapse last month of a ceasefire declared in March.
Mr Getachew said the failure of their offensive meant Tigrayans would be talking from a position of strength if Ethiopia accepted the African Union's offer of peace negotiations.
