Former UK diplomat on Queen Elizabeth II's and UK government's ties to Africa
Following the Queen's long legacy and relationship with Africa, what will change?
Nicholas Westcott, a former diplomat and now director of the Royal African Society, a British organisation which aims to improve ties between the UK and the continent, talks of the Queen's relationship with Africa. Particularly with a new King and government he looks to what the future may hold for British-African relations: "There's been a gradual process whereby Britain and Africa have been drifting apart [but] we now have a British cabinet with more senior members of African heritage, so maybe the fact that Africa is an integral part of Britain will actually penetrate into the senior levels of government."
