Up to 60 million people worldwide are amputees
According to the 2017 Global Burden of Disease report, about 60 million people worldwide are living with an amputation. It’s a life-changing experience that can be mentally traumatising, and management within the first six months greatly determines the healing process. In the Seychelles, 44-year-old musician Jean Marimba’s foot was amputated following an injury he sustained while sleeping. He spoke to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Millicent Akeyo about his recovery journey and how he rose above the trauma.
