For the first time scientists have recorded evidence of babies in the womb reacting to their mothers eating. A study from Durham University's Fetal and Neonatal Research Lab found that when they gave mothers carrot the baby smiled, and when given kale, the baby grimaced.

Professor Nadja Reissland, one of the scientists involved in the study says this research could help children to eat their greens: "The idea is that if you get exposure in the womb you will get already used to it and then afterwards you will actually like it."
