If things had gone the way they were originally started, Angel Sanchez would still be in jail.

Instead he has been sworn in to the Washington DC Bar which oversees all professional lawyers practicing in the nation鈥檚 capital. The emotional ceremony in Miami鈥檚 state courthouse, capped off a remarkable rise from a life of street crime.

Mr Sanchez told Newsday: 鈥淚f there鈥檚 one thing that I hope my experience serves as鈥�particularly the swearing in, in that courtroom where I was sentenced鈥�it should be a testimony and a symbol that justice cannot be mere punishment.鈥�
