Uganda’s Ebola outbreak: Screening at border points

Spokesman from Ministry of Health says they have 18 confirmed cases and 5 confirmed deaths from Ebola

Health officials in Uganda say a total of 18 people have contracted the highly contagious Ebola virus. Five people have already died, raising fears of a spreading outbreak that involves a strain for which a vaccine has not yet been found.

Emmanuel Ainebyoona is spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Uganda. He told Newsday that this is the fourth time Ebola has been declared in Uganda but this time the nation will get its spread under control “in the shortest possible time because we already deployed our rapid response teams. We are working with all our partners, including the World Health Organization…we have set up isolation facilities…they have already started screening at border points.”
