Hurricane Ian: Cuba destruction
Hurricane Ian is now a Category 4 storm and meteorologists warn of life-threatening storm surges and up to forty centimetres of rain in just a few hours.Â
The storm has already left a trail of devastation across Cuba, where two people were killed and many hectares of crops destroyed.Â
Cristina Escobar is a Cuban journalist and tells us what it's like on the ground and in the economically important tobacco lands: "It's a mess there...this kind of phenomenon impoverishes those communities more."
