Just Stop Oil activist: ‘We have a morally just cause’

A video of climate change activist Lora Johnson being arrested and carried away during a Just Stop Oil protest has been viewed more than 11 million times online.

The video shows Lora answering questions whilst being carried away by police from Waterloo Bridge in London after allegedly attempting to glue her hands to the infrastructure.

Speaking to Radio 5 Live’s Stephen Nolan, Lora says she was protesting to “get the government to say no to new oil [extraction] licensing,” which she adds makes “no fiscal or environmental sense”.

“History has shown us that all great change doesn’t actually come from lobbying governments. The suffragette movement, the civil rights movement, they were all disruptive,” she says.
