Is China overfishing?
According to some estimates the world's demand for fish is expected to double over the next thirty years.
But concern is growing in conservation circles around China's role, especially off South America's Pacific coastline.
The authorities in Ecuador have accused Beijing of acting with impunity in the world’s most biodiverse region.
China's has a very large fishing fleet, and countries are accusing China of overfishing in areas that are far beyond the country's designated territorial waters.
Oceanographer Dr Marla Valentine is an illegal fishing expert. She told Newsday, she says there's "a fine line between what is legal, and what is responsible, and what is sustainable".
