Martin Lewis on inflation: ‘Many of the price rises we’ve had are here to stay’
Martin Lewis tells 5 Live’s Nihal Arthanayake what the 10.1% inflation rate means for pensions and other funding opportunities.
Liz Truss announced today that she will raise state pensions in line with inflation next year.
Martin says, “the real doubt comes over the question of how long it will be her government... because clearly, we are in a position of extreme political instability at the moment”.
He explains that inflation rates are likely to go up “because of the energy price guarantee that we're talking about in April”.
“For prices to go down we would need to have deflation, and nobody is talking about that. So, it's likely many of the price rises that we've had are now here and are here to stay.”
