Lisa Squire鈥檚 daughter Libby was raped and murdered in Hull in 2019. Lisa now campaigns for prisoners convicted of murder to serve an automatic whole life tariff.

She told 5 Live鈥檚 Naga Munchetty that she spoke to former prime minister Boris Johnson about this law-change, but his response was 鈥渨e don鈥檛 have enough prison space鈥�.

鈥淟onger prison sentences don鈥檛 deter criminals,鈥� Boris said.

Lisa argued that more prisons should be built and if 鈥淸a longer sentence] doesn鈥檛 deter the criminal, then should they be out anyway?鈥�

She said that she wouldn鈥檛 stop campaigning until her 鈥渓ast breath鈥�.

鈥淟ibby meant more to me than just giving up.鈥�
