Death of Davido’s son highlights swimming dangers
The death in a swimming pool of Ifeanyi Adeleke, the three-year-old son of Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido, has thrown a spotlight on how dangerous swimming pools can be for young children.
Bolanle Edwards is the CEO of Strap and Safe Child Foundation in Lagos, which campaigns to ensure the safety of children at home, on the road and in school. She told Newsday: “This is one death too many, this has been happening back-to-back from 2018 to 2022…cases at hotels…the beach…private homes as well. The government needs to do more by sensitising and informing.”
