“It’s nothing to do with racism, it’s to do with protecting us.â€
Around 400 asylum seekers are living in two hotels in Erewash, with one hotel being overtaken by the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Office recently.
A group of locals are concerned by the alleged behaviour of some people outside the hotels, this includes reports on social media of intimidation towards women.
The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Office says “The number of people arriving in the UK who seek asylum and require accommodation has reached record levels, placing unprecedented pressures on the asylum system.
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Derby’s political reporter Georgia Roberts has been to the local area to speak to residents.
