Former Twitter executive Sunil Singhvi says new owner Elon Musk "is moving at breakneck speed towards audience monetisation." Elon Musk has dramatically reduced the platform's workforce and defended the cut in a tweet, saying he had "no choice" as the firm is losing more than $4m (拢3.5m) a day.

Sunil Singhvi, formerly Director of Media Partnerships at Twitter, says Mr Musk has been very vocal about wanting to move to a subscription service, where users with a verified account pay for the privilege.
