India to overtake China as the world’s most populous country

The United Nations has projected that the world's population will hit eight billion people on the 15th November 2022. India is expected to take over from China next year as the world's most populous country.

Saahil Menghani is a journalist from Delhi. He told Newsday that the growth of people has led to “massive unemployment…massive conflicts…violence…theft…road-rage…neighbours are turning against each other because they are fighting for…space on land…There are real estate projects which are coming up…on natural habitat…which is further escalating the human animal conflict. Reports of a leopard or any such wild animal being spotted in residential areas has become such a norm that it’s not even news anymore.”
