Soldier finds his granny in viral video from Kherson

A moment of joy went viral in Ukraine when a soldier reunited with his grandma in the city of Kherson.

After Russian forces left the city they had controlled for more than eight months, one of the Ukrainian soldiers who moved in was filmed running to embrace his grandmother. In the video, she appears her knees crying with open arms.

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Newsday’s Natalia Golisheva Deis has been speaking to his younger brother Yuly, who described what it was like seeing his grandmother again.

"There were moments when we were out of contact for long periods and we were worried sick. I knew it was my brother in that video... and there was my house and my grandmother. To see my granny so happy when she spotted him, I had a very warm feeling."
