Twitter: Why have staff been locked out of their offices?
Twitter has told employees that the company's office buildings will be temporarily closed, effective immediately. In a message seen by the ѿý, workers were told that the offices would reopen on Monday 21 November. It did not give a reason for the move.
The announcement comes amid reports that large numbers of staff were quitting after new owner Elon Musk called on them to sign up for "long hours at high intensity" or leave.
Edward Ongweso Jr writes for Motherboard, the technology wing of Vice Media. He told Newsday: “Elon Musk…gave employees a Thursday deadline to sign-on to his new two-point-zero plan where employees would have to essentially commit loyalty to the new plan where you come in on weekends, on long nights...From what I saw, hundreds of employees have resigned already after the 5pm deadline.”
