BCU debate in Birmingham about the future of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Local Radio

There was a debate in Birmingham about the future of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Local Radio...

Last month we found out about proposals to make big changes to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio WM and other stations across the country.

It means cutting back on the number of local shows, with WM sharing evening and weekend programmes with other parts of the Midlands... and a national late show.

The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ says it wants to focus more of its spending on digital and online content.

But there are concerns that Black and Asian representation across local radio will be one of the biggest casualties of the proposed cuts..

And that was the subject of a debate at Birmingham City University last night.

I was there and I spoke to the man who organised it - Marcus Ryder who is the head of the Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity which is based at BCU.
