'Miracle' baby born to couple diagnosed with cancer
A healthy baby girl was born to parents who were both undergoing treatment for cancer during the pregnancy. It's been described as a 'miracle' by their cancer doctor.
Baby Heidi was born healthy without suffering any side-effects from chemotherapy. Consultant haematologist, Dr Salim Shafeek, said being pregnant and having high-grade Non-Hodgkin lymphoma was exceptionally rare.
Bethany and James Jefferson-Loveday spoke to Newsday about their experience.
Bethany said: "It took a week from having had my diagnosis, to then have the confirmation that I can have the treatment in pregnancy, so I had a week of uncertainty in terms of the baby, which was a very difficult time".
