Pope Benedict: how will he be remembered?
The funeral service of former Pope Benedict begins shortly in the Vatican. Pope Francis will preside over the funeral - the first time a Pope will be buried by his successor. It's expected to be a relatively modest affair as the late Pope wished.
But how will he be remembered?
We spoke to Father Fred Jenga, a Catholic Priest of the Congregation of Holy Cross in Uganda who met the late Pope Benedict on a number of occasions.
"When I think of Pope Benedict we have this very excellent theologian who was also the centre in every good shepherd or a pastor ... we have a joke that we had a German Shepherd, referring to him'".
He said also Pope Benedict struck an important chord with African worshippers, sharing the same beliefs, especially on upholding traditions.
