Mark Selby: ‘Tyson Fury helped me confront depression’
“I didn’t know it was depression, I just thought I was having up and down days.”
Three-time snooker Masters winner Mark Selby went public about his depression after suffering a 6-1 defeat to Barry Hawkins in the 2022 Masters.
He tells 5 Live Breakfast ‘after that Masters, it was like if you were to put a lot of stuff on a table sooner or later it will collapse and I just collapsed in the end’.
He says it was after hearing Tyson Fury talk about his fight with depression, that actually helped him confront how he was feeling.
“The more I listened to him talk I thought, ‘I feel like that’.
“I could related to what he was saying and how he was feeling,” he says.
