Turkish police have arrested 20 people for social-media posts criticising the government's response to last week鈥檚 deadly earthquakes, saying the messages were 鈥減rovocative鈥�. There has been growing criticism of the government鈥檚 handling of the rescue effort in the crucial first few days following the disaster, which has killed more than 40,000 people across Turkey and Syria. Turkey's President Erdogan - who has repeatedly criticised the spread of "fake news" since the earthquake struck - ordered that Twitter be temporarily shutdown.

Suay Boulougouris from Article 19 - a free speech campaigning organisation - spoke to the 蜜芽传媒 about the arrests and the impact shutting Twitter down has had on rescue efforts across the country.
