Almost 700 girls poisoned by toxic gas in Iran
Authorities in Iran say they're investigating what can only be described as a mysterious mass poisoning of schoolchildren - almost all of them girls. Hundreds of students have fallen ill over the past few weeks, apparently after inhaling some sort of toxic gas.
The first poisoning took place in November, when 18 students from the Nour Technical School in the religious city of Qom were taken to hospital. Since then, more than 10 girls' schools have been targeted in the surrounding province, including another incident this week, involving 35 pupils at a high school near the capital Tehran.
