Imran Khan supporters clash with security forces

Pakistani police have clashed with supporters of Mr Khan, a former prime minister, outside his residence as they tried to detain him on a court order.

Clashes have taken place between supporters of Pakistan's main opposition leader Imran Khan and security forces in Lahore, as they tried to detain him on a court order.

The former Pakistani PM is facing allegations that he unlawfully sold state gifts while in office. Mr Khan says the case is politically motivated but the government has denied this, saying police are merely complying with the orders of the court to arrest him.

Barrister Hassaan Niazi - a legal representative and advisor to Imran Khan told Newsday that tear gas, poisoned water cannon and live bullets had been fired at the supporters and the reason Mr Khan is avoiding going to the court is because of the security risk. He asked: "What have the police come to do (with Imran Khan) arrest him or kill him?"
