‘There are only certain moments a landlord is allowed to increase your rent’
The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s Cost of Living correspondent Colletta Smith explains the different reasons landlords may be increasing your rent.
As part of an investigation into the UK’s rental market, Colletta highlights how the Bank of England’s increase in interest rates has impacted mortgage rates.
“This means some landlords are passing the charges on to renters because they want to make a profit," she says.
“There are fewer properties to rent… but more people are looking for houses in the rental market."
