When someone says 'Essex', you'll be forgiven if the first things you think of are spray tans and 'vajazzle'.
But beyond its portrayal in modern media, Essex has many stories to tell including the New Towns of the 20th century and its rich history medieval Christianty.
Tim Burrows, author of The Invention of Essex, and writer Sarah Perry talk to Amol Rajan about the county's history of religion, the sterotypes related to it and its place in modern politics.
