St Pauls Carnival is back! But how did it start?
It started as a thank you and an expression of West Indian culture in Bristol. Roy Hackett and Barbara Dettering look back at how the “festival” started in 1968 and even though it rained that first celebration was a huge success. Roy remembers “We helped to give joy to the people that once didn’t want us. And then we came together as one unit”.
