Is Threads a serious rival to Twitter?
You may have seen in recent weeks the escalating rivalry between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk - well it's likely to reach another level with Meta's launch of Threads, a social media platform seen as a rival to Twitter.
According to Meta's boss Mark Zuckerberg the new text based social media app has already had millions of sign-ups in its first few hours. So, how much of a rival could it actually be to Twitter which was recently bought by Elon Musk?
Newsday got the judgement of Caitlin Chin - a Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, where she researches the regulation of technology - who has downloaded the new app:
"A pretty serious contender."
