Make A Difference Awards 2023: “Fundraiser”
Meet the four finalists in our Fundraiser category.
The four finalists in the ѿý Essex Make A Difference Awards 2023 “Fundraiser” category are (in alphabetical order):
Stanley Jackson, who taught himself to crochet during lockdown when he was just 10 years old and has made some incredible creations. He sells them at craft fairs and online to raise money for charities including Cancer Research, Dogs Trust and the Thurrock Food Bank, and has raised several thousand pounds.
Simon Johns, who started the football team FC Vilomah to bring together bereaved fathers. The team help to raise thousands of pounds for charities which helped them when they experienced the loss of their babies. Simon is described in his nomination as working endlessly to organise as many events as possible – “the guy truly is a hero”.
Chris Phillips, who has raised more than £100,000 for charities through a variety of fundraising endeavours, mostly through sport. Through his own experiences with mental health, Chris has become a trustee for the Mind charity and dedicates most of his fundraising efforts towards helping people overcome their own mental health issues.
Andrew Small, who is the founder of the Busketeers Choir. They are a community choir which Andrew established with the aim of raising £1 million for charity. Three years on, he’s already raised 10% of his target. He teaches four choirs across Essex every week and has raised money for charity through performances and online videos.
The four finalists will find out if they have won at the ѿý Essex Make A Difference Awards ceremony on 21 September 2023. Good luck!
