The 'exciting' potential of AI in detecting breast cancer

Research in Sweden suggests artificial intelligence can safely read images from breast cancer screenings.

The study, which involved more than 80,000 women, found computer-aided detection was just as good at spotting cancer as two radiologists.

The lead scientist, Dr Kristina Lang, said the technology had the potential to save time and address shortages of medical staff around the world. She told Newsday: “We could detect 20% more cancers but without false positives.”
