Ed Byrne: 'Dark humour gets you through it'

The Edinburgh Fringe attracts thousands of performers and audience members every year.

Comedian Ed Byrne, a mainstay of programmes such as Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo, is no exception. He joined Nihal Arthanayake on ѿý Radio 5 Live to discuss his newest Edinburgh show.

Ed Byrne’s younger brother, Paul, passed away aged 44 in Feb 2022 following complications from Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Paul was a comedy director and worked with many comedians at all levels of the comedy scene.

Ed speaks at length on this topic in his new show, “Tragedy plus time”. Talking to Nihal, Ed says “At the time of the death I didn't think then that this would ever be something I would end up processing into a show.”

“Dark humour gets you through these things”.
