Hi-tech socks designed to keep dementia sufferers safer

Scientists in the UK have developed the socks, which combine sensors and artificial intelligence to support people with dementia to live independently. They also help carers detect agitation and prevent falls.

The socks have already been trialled in a nursing home. Researchers are now looking at how to further develop the assistive technology.

Dr Zeke Steer, co-creator of these socks and CEO of the company Milbotix, told Newshour's James Menendez more about how they work.
