Stacey Solomon: ‘[My kids’ rooms] need to be disgusting for a while for them to tidy’
TV presenter and mum of five, Stacey Solomon, shares her secret on getting her children to tidy their rooms when they’re messy.
Stacey told 5 Live’s Nihal Arthanayake: “It’s up to them if they want to live in filth, I absolutely don’t have time to be tidying their rooms”.
“Sometimes their rooms need to be disgusting for a while for them to not be able to live in it or do their homework… and then they start tidying up after themselves!”
Stacey said for this plan to work, she’s had to play the 'long game'. She said: "There’s a horrible phase in-between where they blame you for losing things”.
For her kids to want to keep up with it, it has taken a “couple of years… but only a few weeks for them to hate where they’re living,” Solomon added.
