Gareth Thomas: ‘I know the pressure that this team will be under now.’
Gareth Thomas is the former Wales rugby captain and has been in Paris ahead of the Rugby World Cup.
He spoke to 5 Live Breakfast about who he’s backing for the final and how Wales are looking ahead of their first game of this World Cup against Fiji.
Speaking on Wales, he said: “I know the pressure that this team will be under now.”
Fiji are ahead of Wales in the rugby standings and they also beat England in one of the Rugby World Cup warm up matches.
“Fiji did Wales a favour by beating England,” he said, as Wales are now “upping the ante”.
Despite supporting Wales, he said: “I can see it being a New Zealand v South Africa final.”
Gareth did, however, tell Rachel Burden, if France win, it would be a “fairy tale”.
“Everybody loves to see a home team doing well.”
