90-year-old abseiler: 'I was being blown all over the place'

Thelma completed her abseil at Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, raising money for Woking and Sam Beare Hospice which has cared for several of her friends.

The former air stewardess previously completed a fundraising skydive for the hospice at the age of 75.

She told Tony Livesey: "I did quite a few steps thinking 'oh this is wonderful, I shall be down in no time at all!'

And then the wind took hold of me and I was being blown all over the place."

After completing her descend, Thelma now plans further adventures including a flying lesson, a zip wire ride, a wing walk and her first tattoo.

Thelma added: "I just enjoy life and have had lots of problems, everyone does, but you've got to get over them and make the most of everyday."
