Robert Peston: 'I come from a generation where these things weren't formally diagnosed.

The central character of his new book 'The Crash', which charts the fictional story of a journalist covering the 2008 financial crisis has OCD and ADHD - two things Robert Peston has lived with all his life.

Robert tapped into his own experience for the book after breaking the story of the collapse of Northern Rock in 2007 when he was the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s business editor.

The presenter spoke to Nihal Arthanayake about his childhood growing up in a time when these conditions weren't recognised.

He said: "When I was at school, kids like me were just thought of as being a bit weird.

"The bit of it that was most debilitating when I was a kid was the OCD."

Robert describes how as a child he would go round his house in the middle of the night, checking the gas was off and the doors were locked.
